"Dr." Charlene Werner on Homeopathy

This video illustrates the extreme stupidity of those who believe in homeopathy.

The person who posted the video on YouTube recently received the following letter.
I thought you would like to know that you will be contacted by Dr Werner's Attorney shortly regarding her video. The posting of this video is in violation of copyright laws. We are aware that you have had this video up since March of '08 however I suggest you delete it immediately.

Jayson Patrick
This immediately triggers the Streisand Effect. Won't these people ever learn? No, of course not, that's because they are stupid.

Watch if you dare.

My moronometer registers 1350 milliRayComfort. How is that even possible?

The good Dr doesn't understand advanced mathematical concepts like multiplication.

By the way, I’m not the same anonymous as the first commenter. But I took your dare, and I watched it. And you’re right, it is stupid. But, if it is in fact copyrighted by the speaker, then that’s the end of the argument on that matter. However, why not just inter space the video with additional clips of a humorous, debunking nature? Thus, the new video becomes a parody, and could have its own copyright.

there is some mistake here, her real name is Dr Charlatene Werner

What garbage! And who is Steven Hawking(s)?

I watched this. I started laughing about 30 seconds after she started talking and could not stop for about half an hour. And I usually don't laugh much, so this was much needed therapy.

My analog moronometer died. When she mentioned that you can X out the M in E=MC^2, the needle deflected so far to the right that it got stuck. Then it just sat there vibrating. It flopped around on the desk every time she said "Hawkins".

Is it my computer, or is the video actually gone?

I was going to grab it, but I see it's now being hosted by over 20 users...she's been Streisanded.

She's a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic isn't she?

Where do you start?

"We're all energy."

*moronometer explodes*

I didn't laugh; I moaned. Really! My brain hurts!

It's the fastest rate of stupidity per second I've ever seen!

I love those "air quotes"...

I couldn't get past the part where she announced "Hawkins" invented String Theory (and that god gave him to us to boot!). I just couldn't watch it anymore. My brain started leaking out my ear.

lim m->0 mc^2 = c^2

This kind of thing isn't really funny. Belief in faith healing and other bogus cures causes genuine harm. For another, particularly heinous, example of why anti-scientific, faith-based thinking is not harmless, especially when there's a huckster around to exploit it, see this NYT article about Iraq's dependence on bogus bomb detectors.

I was passed a link to this video. As someone with a BSc (hons) in Physics and now working as a Post-doc in microbiology department, I can truly say that this woman blew my mind.

Blew my mind like a handgun at point blank range that is.

This is unbelievably stupid. Here's a challenge for you. Try to find a correct statement made by this woman. Tip: Not only does Stephen Hawking not have an "s" at the end of his name, but he did NOT "come up" with string theory. Interestingly though, one of the pioneers of string theory (Michael Green) has just taken over from Hawking as Lucasian professor of mathematics at Cambridge.

The smart homeopath argues using quantum mechanics and entanglement and not relativity.

At least it does not looks so rediculus, and perhaps homeopathy can be explained that way.

It's sad that people lie so blatantly to sell their snake oil. I'm amazed they're able to get away with it.

No mass, just electrons neutrons and protons... Comonly known as matter. The key definition of which is somthing that has mass. Hmm.

Matt C said...

I already left one post but feel compelled to leave another. It has no mass because it's the size of a bowling ball? Wouldn't that be it's volume. A neutron star is the size of a beach ball, but it's mass is astronomical. This (small) oversight aside, taking the assumption that an atoms nucleus is 10 fm (femto meters) across, and that there are give or take 5x10^68 hydrogen atoms in a galaxy. That means that the hydrogen (smallest atom) in 1 galaxy all grouped togeter would be 261799387.8x10^9 cubic km. To give that some perspective, that's 241,000 larger than earth... A bowling ball? Right.

I watched this with headphones on and my boyfriend just asked me what I was watching because I had such an extreme look of utter HORROR on my face. I know someone who has just graduated in this field. I always thought she was so smart and well grounded. She was originally going to become a proper doctor. I find it hard to look her in the eye now.
